It is an abbreviation for Registered Nurse. An RN is someone who has completed the education requirements to sit for boards (exam) in whatever state they live in and have passed the exam.

Registered Nurse

LPN= Licensed practical nurse or LVN = liensed vocational nurse

CNA= certified nursind assistant

MA= medical assistant

ARNP= advaned registered nurse practitioner

CRNA= certified registered nurse anesthetist
