It's worth having a look through some of the posts in the international section as there has been quite a bit discussed in there. Also look through this thread there is also a great deal of information in there

well my DipHe is equal to a ADN
so a RGN is less (academically) than the DipHE as it is a certificate.
So maybe the RGN is equal to a us diploma in nursing?

I was credited as equivalent to a diploma RN in the States but not to any degree nurse.
Actually it's the same in the UK for that matter because if you are on "old" RGN you get the same number of credits as a diploma nurse if you want to do your degree.
On the plus side if you are truly an RGN you will most likely have enough hours to be able to work in the USA/Canada, although a move to be an all degree profession in some (& probably eventually all) Canadian Provinces may scupper your chances there.
On the down side the wait for the US immigration is crazy long right now & the economic down-turn has meant there's little in the way of current recruitment in much of Canada just at present.
Patience will be your virtue - if it's the USA you're set on then you'll have time to up-grade to a degree for the length of ime you'll be waiting for your green card!!
