Should I just take the A&P 1 at Rio, or is it easier to take it in person, and I could do this at Gateway since they have a Sat class/lab that's still open.
I know someone on here said they were taking it at Rio, and the teacher was not a good communicator (and I have had that with Rio for a different class which I hate!) and a tough grader and it's kind of scared me off of taking this class at Rio. Although I'm still weighing it as an option because I love the convenience of online courses. I'd actually hate to have to drive down to gateway every sat morning. So yea, I'm really leaning towards taking the Rio class, but if someone comes on here and tells me it's much easier to take in person, then I'll probably do it. Advice?!
Thanks!

Rio without a doubt. I freaked out the first few weeks of BIO 201 cuz I did not think I could do it, but overall I think it is easier than a physical class would be assuming you have the discipline to do your assignments. The exams are harder I think only because you have no one to tell you what exactly will be on them and they are over so much material at once. They are also worth 60% of your grade which makes them a BIG stressor. But, I still think it is the way to go. Plus, you get to use the same book for both sections. There is also no technical "laboratory". Part of me is bewildered by that, but part of me understands why we wouldn't have to disect guinea pigs as well.:)
What do the rest of you think?
Thanks for that post.
So what's the opinion on taking 201 and Micro at the same time at Rio? Doable? I am pretty disciplined when it comes to online work, and even though I have two kids, get plenty of study time (about 5 hours worth) at night after my husband comes home from work.
I got a B in BIO and did not study nearly that much. You spend 5 hours a NIGHT and you should get an A in both. So, yeah, with that much time, very doable.:) Good Luck. Micro is a blast!!

So Micro is not as challenging as AP1 at Rio? I called there today and tried to sign up for both and the woman talked me out of doing Micro and AP1 at the same time! She wasn't an advisor, just the phone person you talk to when doing the classes. And she asked me what else I needed, well all I have left after that would be the food and nutrition and AP2. So she said I should sign up for the food and nutrition and save micro for when I do AP2.
I wonder if Micro is doable while I'm in the 1st block of the nursing program and AP2 when I'm in the second block? (Remember I'm going to be going to SWSC where you don't have to have your prereqs done before the first year, so I could just do those last two classes I need during the program.)
Okay, THAT"s a lot of questions! HOpefully I didn't confuse you! LOL
Thanks for all the responses so far.

I did it, and got a B in both. And I'm not a huge studier - maybe an 30-60 minutes a night for each class (plus several hours on Saturday for the labs/assigments). So if you're able to spend 5 hours a night on studying, you should do fine.
It would be better to take Micro with BIO 202, since it is (so far) a bit easier. If it doesn't back you up prereq wise, you should go the route the lady on the phone at Rio suggested. Micro, to me, was not as hard as A&P 1. It was actually fun too.:) It looks like you have allotted plenty of time to study so really you should be OK no matter what you do. It just depends on how busy you want to be. Why be more stressed when you don't have to? Good Luck.
Okay, yea I've decided to stick with the AP1 and FON.
Hmmm...anyone have any books to sell me? :) I'll pay more than the buy-back, less than the used price. (that's how it works, right?)

I am doing bio 201 and 205 together and never ever would I recommend it. You are doing it the right way. It is not that they are terribly hard but the sheer volume of info to remember is unbelievable. I just passed my midterms (not with the A I am used to which means I will probably get a B in the classes). I don't tend to study but an hour or two a week (for both) but that is going to change for the final.
But I love my teachers at Rio. I have yet to have a bad one. I have Soby and Seaquist. Soby is not an easy grader but pretty fair. He just expects more and once you figure it out you can get A's.
