What would you do if you received more scholarship money than you needed.

Just a question. No malice around it, nor is it a class assignment. Just me wanting to know what you would do if you were given one more partial scholarship than you needed.

Would you accept it and give it to a classmate?

Would you buy your program new equipment?

Would you buy new gear for yourself to replace worn out items?

Would you fund a community outreach program?

Would you pocket it?

Would you do something completely different?

Thanks for taking the time to share, now that I am in NS I understand how valuable time really is.

Thanks for all your input. After much internal conflict I have decided to accept the additional funds and use them to pay for "wants," namely a new computer that my other scholarships wouldn't have covered. Well that and to pay taxes and social security fees on what I have been given beyond the cost of books tuition and fees. Thanks again for helping me with this one.

Just save it and use it later for school related expenses.

I did not know it was possible to get an 'over payment' of financial aid. The school I have gone to has an average cost of attendance and that is the maximum amount of financial aid. After tuition, books, supplies, transportation there is about $1200 left over per month. That is much less than the cost of living where I live (a studio is $800+ utilities). I had to use mine to pay daycare expenses and work to pay rent and bills.

But If I actually had left over money I would buy a new computer, mine is from around 2005! If you are feeling altruistic you could offer it to another student with more expenses and less aid than you.
