Hi,
What does "right hilar prominence" mean? I am not a nurse, I just want to become one. I go online and read articles, allnurses.com, and other websites. I come accoss stuff I don't know the meaning off and when I google it, it doesn't always give me the meaning of what I want.
Thanks :)

Sounds like the radiologist saw something lightning up near the root of the right lung, where its bronchioles and vessels converge. It's just a descriptive phrase.... doesn't give a diagnosis. Hilar prominence could be nothing, or it could be inflammation or if other radiographic finding could be part of other condition. Follow-up with doctor for interpretation of ALL test results needed for diagnosis.
