Here is my PSA of the day about the suction in the bed near a baby. We had a few incidents of the suction getting moved and accidentally placed where it sucked onto the baby (sick kids) it caused a blister ion all of them. Usually moved by the docs who don't know it is on. We now have to have it off the bed and away from the baby.
Ask your UM about investing in sound machines instead.

Hello! I have been a registered nurse for over 24 years. I still appreciate all tips and tricks that any member of the healthcare team can provide.
What have you found to be one "tip" or "trick" that you cannot work without?
For example, I have found that with a fussy baby who is NPO and very restless, that suction tubing (turned on) placed near the baby on the warmer creates a "white noise". It may not have a scientific reason but most of the time it really works to calm the newborn.
I am really interested in ANY pearls of wisdom that you have learned or remembered that you have found beneficial. I wish I had written down all the things that I have learned from others...that "a-ha" moment when I wonder, "why didn't I think to do that?"
Thank you to all seasoned and fresh nurses and other caregivers!
