What does "acuity index" or "average daily acuity levels"???
This is the formula for that
Total acuities / Number of patients
Please help. I need to explain this for my class.

A lot of places have a scoring system for how much care a patient requires....you add up the points for each patient, then add all of the patients totals and divide by the number of patients to get the average acuity score- then they use that for staffing :)

yep at our hospital it tells us just how much care each patient needs and we staff accordingly. The more care they need the more staff we get for our floor
