What professional organizations do you belong to?

The two I can think of that are neonate-specific are the National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN) and the Academy of Neonatal Nursing (ANN). They're each about $110/year, and they provide some free CEUs. There's also the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), but I didn't join because it's super-expensive (~$200/year) and I was unimpressed with the CEUs. You could also check out the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN); it's a good deal if you're working toward your CCRN-Neonatal since you get a discount on the exam ($80 membership for a $100 discount off the test), but their CEUs for neonates are very limited. I'd look around at the websites to learn more about the precise benefits and costs of each.

I'd also look into joining the American Nurses Association (ANA). Some states require that you join your state nursing association in order to join the ANA, which depending on your state can get expensive, but if your state allows solo ANA membership an e-membership is only $45. The benefits aren't amazing (not many CEUs for NICU, but some good leadership CEUs); however, I see it as a way to contribute toward nursing advocacy.

If you graduated in the last 2 years ANN has a special available until the end of the year. Two years membership + conference tuition for $99. Even if you never go to a conference, 2 years for $99 is a good deal.
