Well yall, I just have my practicum to go as of today because I PASSED MY 3 finals YEY!
here is how i would rank the classes from easiest to hardest:
-fundamentals (some call it foundations, assessment basically nursing 1)
this class is easy the problem is that we are all scared and know nothing about nothing (at least i didnt)
-OB (soooooooo easy even for a male! and the clinical part is awesome)
its about birth, pregnant woman and, and lots of goo, its cool stuff, specially if you have a funny instructor!
-Medsurge (some call it basic adult health, or some split into adult 1 and 2)
that is when patho, A&P, assessments, priority, pharmachology and all those come together!
-PEDS(right there with OB, not hard if you did ok on medsurge)
not hard at all, i mean... really! just enjoy it peeps! if you did ok on pharm and medsurge your gonna be fiiiiine!
-Pharmachology
i think it was harder then peds, ob and medsurge, because i had ZERO clinical knowledge nor previous med knowledge, and had taken with fundamentals
-Advanced medsurge, critical care, multi system(some call adult 3)
that is when they mix and scramble everything, go into details on cardiac, renal, pulmonary, trach, vents, ABG, detailed ECG.... and a mix and matches of all systems!
-the worst of all with a 5 star rating!!!! MENTAL HEALTH
- i guess i had a mental block, and i am aware of it (hence i am keeping all my summary and notes to study for the nclex) i just disliked this class with a passion, guess we cant like it all huh? it is just not my thing! BOOOOOOOOOORING, i would read a whole page and forget what it was about on a split second, even worse, i would read a paragraph and in the end of it i would be lost, or picking my nose, or looking at how dusty me desk is, or how harry my arms are (for a while i experienced some what Attention deficit disorder kids do!!!)
that is my imput!!!

I read this and thought, "yeah! totally!" And I scrolled up to see your name, I cracked up! We will be in the same boat. I read a story about having to assist a circ, and I immediatly started to panic. I will certainly NOT be jumping to volunteer with that one!!! I am taking "effective communication" classes this summer, to help prep myself because I get VERY loud when people don't see things how I do. And the mind numbing comments from people just going through the motions, and not taking parenting seriously will be my downfall. For sure. "I'm getting induced because teh baby is ready." "Really? Because when the baby is ready, you go into labor. No induction needed." Oh Lord help me!Merc

Ummm that is not always true!
Anyway, I am only one semester in and so far I have enjoyed it and have found it to be not to bad.
I keep hearing though that every semester is the hardest so I am interested in finding out. Next semester I feel is going to be a struggle for me (first Med/Surge) OB and Peds. OB actually I look forward to but I am feeling better about med surge. I have been doing practice questions from the books CD before reading anything yet and so far I am scoring well. So maybe it won't be as bad as I thought.
