What nursing preprequisite(s) did you struggle in the most?

I've started my prereq's and wondered what people thought was the most difficult. Thanks!

Anatomy. We had to disect cats in lab and I just could not do it. Flunked the course. Finally I had to repeat it and I just had to suck it up and do it. It was aful.

Same for my anatomy was definetly my hardest preprequisite that I had to take. But no matter how difficult the course, you just gotta keep on truckin.

Computer and the humanities, cause they bored me to DEATH.

Statistics. And I still don't know why I had to take it. I have never used a Chi Square to save a patient.

Oh man. Do not go to California of PA Univ. to advance your degree. The administrator of that program sang praises for how that class strengthens your "critical thinking capacity". She loved statistics. Seriously, it was a part of her "Welcome to the program" speech.

I chose a program that didn't require statistics!

My worst was anatomy too. I found it so difficult to remember the names off all those doo-hickeys! So much to remember and things don't necessarily look the same in the models or the dissections as they do in the book-pictures. I found an Anatomy Coloring Book that helped alot (I know that sounds juvenile, but it really helped!).

What did you find to be so difficult about anatomy?

Physiology...especially the endocrine system. I did an accelerated course and we took 2 weeks for each system, covering both A&P at the same time. I loved the anatomy portion and was told that maybe I should be a surgeon instead of a nurse. LOL!

A tip for studying for anatomy if it's difficult for you. Take a camera to class and take photos of every chart and model that will be used for your exams. Print 2 copies of each onto an 8.5"x11" page and on one copy, label every structure that you have to know. On the other, just put a dot on the structures that corresponds with the one labeled. Then insert each into a plastic sheet protector so when they are inserted into a 3 ring binder that they face each other. I put the one with answers on the left and the blank on the right. Flip the answer half to the back and use a dry-erase fine tip marker to write what each structure is to quiz yourself. When you are done, flip the answer half back over and check how you did. If you misspelled something, write it over and over and over until you get it right. I aced nearly every one of my exams for anatomy. I could probably take a photo of what I mean if someone needs a visual.

Chemistry or Chem mystery?!!!

Just did not enjoy these two quarters I had whatsoever.

In the course I took there was a computer skills lab one could attend to beef up on concepts and earn extra credit to boot. Make up for those crummy exam scores!

Now doing those computer programs was quite the challenge. Where I would be spending time figuring out ways to get through the computer maze and less time studying chemystery. Really didn't learn much in the way of chemistry through this method!

I think back on it. The student who never showed up for lecture and spent her time studying the book did the best overall. She aced all the exams. Those darn lectures were a waste of time IMHO!!!

I was so happy to have passed with a C twice. I think what is most intriguing about chemistry is the concept that all matter is related to other matter, just by a few degrees of separation, the electrical patterns are set up differently that's all!

The hardest for me was organic chemistry! I paid soooo much money on a tutor! The professor was awful, couldn't teach to save his life! Reading the book was another mystery! I failed my first exam, but aced the other exams and finals with 90s with the help of the tutor!
