It was interesting to see the report from Temple University (my non-nursing degree alma mater) relative to their recommendation for more extensive use of baccalaureate nurses in assisting in the primary healthcare (PHC) of patients. I believe that Temple is one of the few schools to have already eliminated their MSN-NP program, presumably in support of the 2015 ANA recommendation for the DNP as new credential for NP's. Perhaps Temple's call for more BSN participation at the PHC level is a tacit recognition that adoipting the DNP requirement will result in fewer NP's in the immediate future?
