We just got our syllabus for nursing101 today. We are required to read and write a review of an article from a nursing journal three times this semester. They are due the first school day of each month. My question is: What nursing journals do you subscribe to? I am thinking of AJN and Nursing2008. Anyone subscribe to these? Do you like them? Which one do you like the most?

I have neither the time nor the money to subscribe to and read nursing journals. For assignments such as yours I just pick a topic and find a topical journal article. It's easier to write when it's something about which I'm interested.

Aug 12, 2008 I subscribe to Nursing 2008 and Nursing Made Incrediby Easy and both seem like really good magazines, however, like they mentioned above, it would be worth it to check and see if your school library has them for free. Hope that helps and good luck with school!

There aren't very many basic articles in most of the magazines, or many that you will have background for right away. But to answer your question, I take Nursing 2008, Journal of Emergency Nursing, ENA Connection, and also receive the state BON newsletter. Since I'm an ER nurse, JEN is my favorite.Good luck in your first semester!
JStyles1 353 Posts Aug 13, 2008 whatever you do, stay away from the AJN. Heres why....If you ever decide to cancel your subscription you will get a letter from the "National Credit Audit Corporation (NACC)". Google them and you'll see how many problems people have from them.Basically its a fake collection agency that sends you letters to try and threaten and intimidate you into renewing your subscription under the premise that you owe the company money. They say things like, "An unsettled debt will not simply go away!", and "Settling this debt will prevent further collections and credit damage." There is no way at all that they can do anything with your credit b/c they do not have your social security number; however, I'm sure numerous people fall for the scam and pay the money. Its basically extortion. The journal is all bunnies and flowers until you want to give them the axe. Then they resort to dirty tactics to keep your subscription.
missmatched 57 Posts Aug 15, 2008 I have AJN for over a year now, I havent really seen much use of it yet because I still have to start clinicals this Fall. I'm thinking of getting a different one once my subscription expires. Our library is also pretty extensive and as long as articles could be electronic, there's tons of sources. Actual copies of journals are split between the main lib and the Nursing Lib, which is an hour drive for me.
