I just thought i would let people my current situation and hopefully get some advice. I am a UK nurse with 10 years experience. I have just done the SEC assessment in BC and they have told me i need to do the re-entry program. I am now appealing the decision as i cant leave my job and family to study in BC for 12 months. I understand the reason to upgrade and hopefully they will allow me to a distance/online course. My husband has family in BC who live in way up north but i love Nova Scotia and have applied there too only to be told that they will follow what BC say in terms of upgrading. Again, i totally understand this but i just wondered if anyone else has appealed and whether it is possible that the decision could be changed. There is nothing that i want more than to live and work in either BC or Nova Scotia having been to both and loved them. I am also wondering that if i canot get registration as a RN, would it be possible to apply for LPN registration. By the way i cannot comment on how the SEC assessment went. Thanks.

How long ago was your experience that they require you to do the re-entry programme?
While some RNs from overseas have been granted permission to write to qualify as an LPN, don't expect it to be given either if you have been out of the workforce for more than three years.
But you have to know that working LPNs are not happy about IENs being granted permission to write the exam. I keep hearing about it at work.
