What makes Nursing school so hard?

In your opinion what makes nursing school difficult? Is it the long chapters you have to memorize for the tests? Is it the math? Clinicals? Is it the anxiety? My thing is this, I suck at math. I've changed my major a couple of times because I get so sick of studying math. However, I'm good with reading classes. So since Nursing seems to me to be a reading type curriculum and I have the people skills and work ethic, I thought I would try nursing out. What really makes the school hard in your opinion?

Nursng school is what you make of it. Personal things or lack of interest. There can be a number of things that makes nursing school so hard but it depends on that person.

Good Luck!!!!

i totally agree with tweety, the volume of the work is the problem and the math very basic. you need the decipline to read large volumes of text from a&p 1 & 2 to micro. and to all the nursing courses.

I personally so far do not find the material very hard. I don't want to sound rude or condescending, since I know that a LOT of people struggle with it - but I have taken much harder classes (content wise) in my other degree. I think the challenge for me so far has been the volume of material and the amount of time we have to complete it. But I am adapting to it, and it's not as overwhelming as it was when I started.

Also, don't let a yucky math history deter you. I hated math in high school and college (especially calc/trig). This is not the type of math you do in nursing. Nursing is a lot of applied math - multiplication, division, basic algebra. If you can do those things (or learn to do them with some brush up), you'll be fine!

what was your first degree?
