What Kind of Health Benefits Do You Have?

Published

I'm interested to know what kind of health benefits you guys have with your nursing jobs. My dh is self employed and I'm currently a stay at home mom, so we pay for our own healthcare plan out of our own pockets. It's been so long since we've had real company benefits, I'm wondering what is being offered these days, ie. monthly cost for self and family, deductable amounts, percentage of patient responsibility, etc. along with type of facility you work for.

Thanks.

I buy my own since the hospital's benefits aren't that great. I get a higher hourly wage because of that and it more than makes up for my premiums.

hi i work part time at a not for profit hospital. i work 3 days a week. my benefits include medical, dental and vision for me, my hubby and our son. it costs me 72 dollars per month. here is the general breakdown of what we get for that money:

medical side of it: office visits $5, meds are $5 generic and $10 brandname, no deductibles, annual out of pocket maximum is 1500 for the entire family. no charge for inpatient hosp svcs including maternity, outpatient surgery, xray, lab, diagnostic testing, immunizations.

dental side:no deductible and no calender year maximum, restorative & prosthodontics are covered at no cost.

vision: complete eye exam q year with a $10 copay, folowup exams are allowed and are free if recommended.

i am thrilled with these benefits. i just had my son in july via c-section and the entire process and all the prenatal testing (you name it!) was free!!

Wow!!!! My premiums for the coming year are going to be about 280 dollars per month for myself, hubby and child. Actually no, including dental and vision, it's going to be well over 300 per month.

I work at an outpatient clinic. For family health insurance coverage (no dental or vision) it costs me $330 per pay (every 2 weeks). For dental is in an additional $30 per pay and the closest in network provider is 2 hours away!!! :angryfire

I am getting remarried real soon, so I dropped my insurance coverage this past week and me and the kids will go on his policy for no additional cost to him!

I live in California....I don't know if that has anything to do with the benefits situation. But, I can tell you that there are quite a few hospitals within miles (some even within walking distance!), so maybe there is so much competition for employees. There are better benefits at my hospital vs the one down the road. But the one down the road gets paid a little bit more per hour. (It doesn't make up for how much it would really cost to insure us myself though)

i work for a private non-profit. we have great benefits--- if you pay your fifteen dollar co-pay, or fifty for ER, everything else is basically covered. on the other hand, the rate of pay is not so great--- because it is a rural hospital. i pay about seventy dollars a month for myself and my child, including dental. our vision is free, but we only get one vision check/glasses or contacts a year. dental cleanings are free, i recently got 2 wisdom teeth out for 20 dollars each and was thrilled. meds vary-- usu. about 10 dollars per, fifteen or 20 for non-preferred scripts.

Do you think it would be odd if I were to call some hospitals and ask them what their benefits are and how much even though I'm not looking for employment (right now)? There's quite a range in possibilities judging by the above posts.
