Hello
I am a LVN student, and after graduation I plan to apply for county jail. Is that a bad idea? Should I apply for LTC? I know not to apply for Home health care because I looked up some post, and I read to at least have a year experience before being on your own. If I shouldnt go for the prison right away then where should I focus my job search?

Hey Angel,
I'm not sure how tough it'd be to work in a jail setting (I would imagine it would be mentally draining) but I honestly think it wouldn't be a bad idea. They're probably more hard pressed to hire people as that seems like a job not too many people would be after. It'll be good experience and probably pretty decent pay. I would certainly look into it.
Good luck with everything! =)

Every prison nurse I have ever talked to/shadowed loved their job and wouldnt be in any other place they said. Try it out, see if you like it.
Thank you so much! Yes I know one nurse who said they hire all the time, and when she worked there she left because it was just too much for her. I been in mental health working with addicts and repeat offenders, so this maybe a good job to go for.
Thank you guys. I will definately persue my decision :)
