So I wanted to put how my studying went:
- I bought the uworld app around 2.5 months before my test which was on August 7th, 2017. And I did questions consistently from 25 to 100 questions/day. BENEFIT: Good rationales and honestly resembles the NCLEX format.
- I attended a review course a month before the NCLEX date (08/07). It cost me 450 dollars, however I know I am someone who can not be as smart as some people, therefore I signed up for it because it was a little refresher of nursing school + tips on how to take the test. It was twice a week, 4 hours lectures. It also came with around 75 to 120 homework questions they gave you with answers and rationale. So when i did the homework, I did not do uworld. The days were I had no homework I did uworld. Personally I recommend people to take a review course, especially if you struggled in nursing school or the predictor tests.
- RATIONALES ARE IMPORTANT from both sources I used. Like really, percentages and assessments do not matter. It is about understanding how they got the answer and what the thought process is. Remember the key is to KEEP THE PATIENT ALIVE, or if there is not one then it is to KEEP THE PATIENT FROM LOSING A LIMB.
I got 144 questions in 1 hour and 44 minutes and passed (the PTV trick worked and the boards sent me a email 24 hours of taking the test). You are gonna feel defeated on the test because you can not get similar or exact questions you practice, but the key is understanding the materials.
I know anyone can do it if I can! Good luck for people going in to take it, you guys are gonna do great!
