during my phone interview, the recruiter asked me about myself and my work experience. she went on to tell me about the clinic that she was setting up an interview at for me. she made it sound like a very nice place to work. lol. it was an easy interview. good luck to you and i hope you have a good experience with davita. i am an ex davita slave and its nice to know there is life after serving davita through the davita way. hahahaha. i vowed never to do chronics again after leaving davita. i am doing acute dialysis now and its so much better. the davita clinic that i worked at was a terrible place that could not keep staff and patients. i hope you get a better clinic to work at.

What company do you work for now? Did you think Davita training was adequate?
Guys what questions do they usually ask? I heard sometimes they ask behavioral question. Thanks
I wasnt trained by davita. I was trained by a not for profit company then later went to work for davita. Some of the staff that were trained by davita said the classroom portion was nice. I currently work for renal management in maryland. They have the contract at some of the hospitals in montgomery county, pg and also some hospitals in washington dc. i really love the acute setting much better than the chronic unit. im making $4 more than i did at davita and im not stessed out like i was at davita.
I'm going to have a interview next wk. I want to know what should I expect. What kind of question do they usually ask? thanks.

Ha! I've got a Davita phone interview sometime next week as well. I'll just wing it. Also have another interview with a local dialysis company on Wednesday, but I feel pretty good about that one since I know one of the managers there. I've worked with the docs too, and they were swell. This is for an acute dialysis RN position. Will update later.

I also have a Davita interview next week. I have had two nurse recruiter calls and this will be my first personal contact. In reading the many posts by former and currently unhappy Davita employees, it seems like a low probability that this will be a position I will consider. Not at all prepared for super long shifts I've read about anywhere from 13 1/2 hours to 17 hours !!
Good luck to those of you with interviews next week, and I will post how mine goes too.
Jtanga and Biffbradford I have been wondering how your interviews went this week. I had mine a few days ago. I was asked about each core value and what they meant to me. I also was asked the typical questions it seems, regarding explaining a difficult situation I handled recently and my best and worst attributes.
Anyone else have a report? Good luck to you all.
Not much to report here. While I was waiting for the call from Davita, I spoke with a friend of mine who is a manager at a competing dialysis company who I've known for >10 years when we worked in the same ICU, and really trust his judgment. Now, trying to put this as politically correct as I can, after speaking with my friend, I don't think I would be a good 'fit' with Davita, so I never returned their call when they left a message on my machine. My friend immediately called HR at his company, I just got back from my in person interview with them (first job interview in 14 years!) and am supposed to meet with one of the nurse managers next week. I should mention that, this company didn't have any open positions posted anywhere, but I just decided (before speaking with my friend) that I would send them a resume anyway and it turns out that there are a few positions opening up in chronic dialysis very soon. I did say to HR that in the long run, I'd be more interested in something in their acute dialysis program down the road, but am more than willing to learn the ropes and do chronic until something opens up down the road. HR said that they have a 3 month orientation program that's classroom + clinical setting and I told them that sounded exciting.
I know that I'm putting all my eggs in one basket, and that I could get burned in the end some how, but I'm feeling good about this one and am going with it.
I can share some of the questions that were asked of me if anyone wants to know.
I didn't received a call back from Davita after my personal interview, which was OK with me, as I just didn't have a good feel with that interview. Interestingly, the center I interviewed at had just been acquired by Davita one month prior, so I imagine there are some interesting dynamics taking place. I had about 20 minutes of waiting where I could observe the RN's , techs and patients. Very little conversation between any of them and when it happened there were no smiles or even pleasant expressions. One RN asked a tech if they were done with their break , as he had come back inside but had stopped off in the front office and was literally engaged with two clerical people in about a 5 minute whispering conversation. He didn't respond in a timely manner when she asked him to come back. He acknowledged to her that he was off his break, but kept on whispering. When he finally did go back to the floor, he closed the door that was open and I was unable to further observe how the floor was running.
Luckily, in the meantime, I was hired in LTC and just had my first day yesterday. I think it's a better fit for me.
I just got back from a second 'non-Davita' interview with the clinic's nurse manager and got a tour as well. Everyone seemed friendly, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the patients appeared pretty happy as well. Not to say that Davita clinics are not the same or better, but that was just my experience earlier this morning.
