For me, it has to be anatomy. I recall it being very hard; there was a lot to memorize and the textbook was very hard to read.Anatomy1.gif

Chemistry!

And as a LPN going back to be an RN, being "retaught" certin nursing procedures is pretty hard to endure.I've laughed out loud a few times at some of the things the instructor says.

"crush each pill seperately".

"when checking BS, wipe with alcohol, dry with gauze, squeeze first drop, wipe away first drop with another gauze, squeeze out second drop"

"if the bottom of your sterile glove brushes slightly on the pts sheet you have to start the straight cath all over"

Oh at last!! Someone with common sense and who thinks like me!!

Crush the tabs separately?? Give each med by gastrostomy tube separately and flush with water between each! Where are they all going to end up?? If anyone can give the rational for this I would really like to hear it!!

As for the BS, what do people in their own homes do??

It's like when patients at home are on diamorph suspension. 'Take 10mls!? No way! Swig it from the bottle!!
