taken away? and what if you are working on a temp license. Do they decrease your salary to a CNA until you pass or do they just let you go all together

Something to talk to your DON about, I imagine every place in different. One things the same though...not everybody passes the first time around.

It's entirely up to the individual facility. What I have seen most often over the years is that they offer you the option of working as a CNA (at a CNA salary) until you have a license.

Here in Florida the state BON says that if you fail, you lose your GPN status. THe facility must make you stop practicing as a nurse until you retake the exam, and you have to wait 90 days for that. Most facilities will make you a CNA or PCT and lower your pay to that until you pass. BUT.. I have heard of facilities who do not follow that to the letter. I take my NCLEX on Jan 21st and pray that I wont have to find out personally what exactly my facility would do. Good Luck to you and anyone else out there that is soon to be taking the NCLEX!

In Pa, you lose your Temp and are placed under the role of a CNA.
