If you had a patient come in for gel, but you couldn't give it to her because she was contracting and was dilated to 4 very soft, you commented, that delivery would be imminent if you broke her water, but you sent her home instead and the patient delivered at home or in the car, would you be in any kind of trouble? or would it just be chalked up as a haha? I'm just kind of curious. I soooo hope that the nurse who sent me home didn't get in trouble because I'm not angry at all. So out of curiosity, has it every happened to you and are there any reprecussions?

I'm not affiliated with that site, I just picked the name cuz I am fascinated with the birth process, pregnancy and everything that goes with it. 2 of my children were born in a hospital, 1 in my van. All is fine. I want to be a doula. I wanted to be a nurse before I had kids, which is kind of how I ended up here. I understand where you are all coming from. I won't ask anything else.

Our unit has a policy that if there is no cervical changes in 2 hours the patient is dc.d. Lots of people walk around for weeks with ctx and they are 3cm or 4cm. My sister was 4cm for four weeks. I told her not to go anywhere without a pan to catch that baby in:chuckle :chuckle
We have had pts that we have dc'd at 1cm that deliver in the car or at home....you just never know!!!!
