What did you do to help you through these classes?

Also, are you in nursing school now?

A&P was my favorite class and I A's them. Chemistry was ok, but I struggled with calculation. Math is my one of my weak subject. I went to tutoring class for chem and it help me alot. I did'nt an A but I'm happy with B. =)

Wish I had known you in school. I'd have taken your math tests for ya, you could take my A+P tests. We'd have had A's all round.

Specializes in cardiac, ortho, med surg, oncology.
OK then. All you st8 A nerds lol..................help me with something.

I do better in classes that focus on understanding things. You know, psych. or the patho. part of A+P. What I am not good at is the memorization part. I cant read something over and over and recall it the next day.

Does my memory just suck, or what? Why do I still look up meds that I was looking up when I was a new nurse. Then, I slap my forehead and think........"oh my, thats right. Why cant I remember that?".

I just have a very good memory.....can recall most things incredibly well. Something that worked for me with the drugs was to remember that drugs that end with "pril" are frequently ACE inhibitors for BP, drugs ending with "olol" are generally beta blockers and BP and HR need to be checked prior to giving, drugs ending with "dipine" are usually calcium channel blockers and again monitor BP and HR, drugs ending in "mycin or "micin" are usually antibiotics, and the aminoglycosides specifically have oto and nephro toxicicity side effects. the cephalosporins usually begin with "ceph" or "cef", the penicllins end with "cillin" etc. Hope this helps
