I am wondering if I will be able to get in with my GPA, which is a 3.4.

Specializes in Peds, Float, Ambulatory, Telemetry (new).

I went to a school that disregarded my grades from my old school, where I had a horrendous GPA. I was able to get a 3.89 GPA because I took the new schools pre-reqs and got all A's and one B. So I think you will be fine. Good luck!

Yes, you will with a GPA of 3.4 is pretty good. I have absolute faith you will be able to get into a BSN program. I got into my masters program with a GPA OF 3.7 Your GPA of 3.4 will be accepted. Best of luck to you.

Specializes in Hospital Education Coordinator.

Does not matter what mine was - all that matters is do YOU have what that school wants. Mine wanted a 3.5 but I had 3.0. I was allowed to enroll because I had "A" in some key courses. Also, I had working experience, which they might have taken for incentive. Don't know. Good luck to you!

Specializes in ICU.

I had a 3.27 from my previous degree, but then made all As and one B in my nursing prereqs, so my prereq GPA was around a 3.8. Your prereqs count for a lot more than your overall GPA, IMO.

A 3.4 is definitely fine enough to get you into a BSN program. Especially when combined with a good essay and stellar recommendations. However, if it's the pre-req courses that were bringing your gpa down, you may have issues.

Specializes in TNS, ECRN, CEN, TNCC.

Four point ohhhh

That is encouraging. I do have A's in the sciences, and CNA experience.

I think like a 3.6 or something.

Specializes in Telemetry, OB, NICU.

Honestly, that will depend on your school's admission requirements as well as the competition you are facing.

Keep in mind that a high GPA doesn't necessarily guarantee admission. Nor does a low GPA mean you have no hope. There's a lot of factors that can come into play.

Washington State College of Nursing, as a transfer student (the college is comprised of students from WSU, EWU, & Whitworth) I had to compete for 1/10 seats (total of 90 for the Spokane Campus). I went in overall with a 3.96 and a pre-req of 3.89. None of the transfers were lower than a 3.7 overall. The students from WSU/EWU/WHIT could be somewhat lower, but not that much.

LOL. Graduated from WSU with a 3.2.
