What to get for 1st semester of NS??help

Hi everyone I will be starting an ADN program Aug 23rd. We were supposed to have an orientation but our orientation actually got canceled. They said it will be some time during the first week of classes. Well I would like to buy my school supplies before hand. So I was wondering what did everyone buy for their first semester of nursing school. ex how many binders, folders etc. I want to buy everything this weekend. thanks for everyones help

It really depends on how many classes you are taking! Make sure to get a binder and organizers for it for each class- keeping organized is the key in nursing school. A good day planner that is broken down by hours is a great tool!

I am going into my last year of NS and found that I have never been more organized in my life. Don't stress- just enjoy the ride! The experiences you will have and the people you will meet will change you life :)

if i were you i would wait to buy until AFTER your school orientation. we may tell you what to buy but may not be needed by your program. so hang on to your money and wait...

they didnt really tell us, supply wise what we needed @ orientation.

anyways, id get a PLANNER/ORGANIZER..very helpful.

and maybe a binder for each class. thats what i have, and then when u actually get to class the teacher may tell you any odds and ends you might need :)

is there anyway you can go online and research your classes? Our teachers use blackboard so they have our syllabus online. it gives a breakdown of everything we will cover, and any assignments we will have.

My school provides a master outline for each class, divided into units. its huge! so i'm going to get a binder for each unit which will include all of my lecture,seminar,lab,clinical info. Then a binder for pharmacology. And we have a portfolio that we will have to make with certain things that our instructor wants us to put in then, so i'll have a binder for that too!

I went to walmart and bought a bunch of binders when they were on sale because if I dont use them this semester, i know i will in the following 3.

Also, my school requires us to use black ink for all things turned in/ and clinicals.

We needed white scrubs, a stethoscope, white shoes, a penlight, bandage scissors.

I wouldnt buy anything yet other than maybe binders, looseleaf paper, pens....but those other things were just so you have an idea, that they MAY require those as well
