Hi All-
I was wondering if you could share with me some of the facts or reference tools that you use regularly. I am trying to make my own RN quick notebook. Thank you:)

A B C !!
Code status
Allergies...meds and drugs, environmental, animals
Diabetes protocol
MONA protocol
Labs
ETOH s/s for all pts., not just ones who come in with overdose
These are just tip of the ice berg, but you should always know, esp. for new admits regardless of their diagnosis. When I am fully awake I can think of more

Yep and can they ambulate and what fluids are running? Pain protocol and sleeping issues because I work nights and no one ever wonders to think of that until 1 a.m. and then it's too late...

hi, gwendolyn207, and welcome to allnurses :welcome:
you can find information for your notebook by using the weblinks on this thread:
there are also interesting informational websites listed on the sticky threads (the first threads listed) on the nursing student assistance forum (https://allnurses.com/forums/f205/) and the general nursing student discussion forum (https://allnurses.com/forums/f50/) of allnurses.
