Hi Bumblebee,

Thanks for the well wishes. It's good to hear that you're doing well as well. Are you still at FIU for your BSN?

I recently graduated from BC. I'm taking my boards at the end of this month. Any advice??

I'm also looking for a job. A few of my classmates were able to land jobs before they took their boards, but the job market is hell right now for new grads.

thanks :D, yes, still FIU .

cool!

just study a lot for those boards! if you have purchased a study program study everything they give you, if not, just study a lot, and repeat your questions even if you have done them already, practice your questions as much as possible and you should be ok.

I'm not sure if other hospitals work the same way, but at my hospital they love nursing assistants who have are or have gone to nursing school, and as soon as they get their license they get hired right away, just like me.

I have two friends that did that at my hospital, worked as an assistant and as soon as they got their license they got hired.

maybe you can get a job as an assistant before taking the boards, a per-diem job.

I agree that the job market for new grads is tough, there are so many nursing schools now! all these technical schools are becoming RN schools, so the competition is tough, but just apply everywhere you can, and you will find something.

If you passed BC you definitely have what it takes to pass the boards!!

In Psych, you need to read the book and know the notes. The second test is a challenge and unless you really study and know your meds, you'll probably see a 10 point drop from your first test grade. However, if you really know the meds, side effects and off label uses you'll be okay.

Don't ever laugh and take it seriously or Mrs. * will ream you out. She comes on a little strong, but she's great in clinicals. She is actually my favorite instructor.

Thanks again teach for your help. What about the textbook ?I have the 3rd edition of the psych book but Prof. says that we need the 4th edition. What do you think?

I always used the current edition. However, I had a couple classmates who always used an old edition b/c money was tight. They passed. So, my guess is, it doesn't matter.

leaving.. have you taking your boards yet.. Keep us posted...

Jam911,

I took my boards, passed with 75 questions. I got a job before I passed the boards and started working shortly after.

you can get hired before you are a RN.. explain more!!! WOW!!

Jam 911,

I got an offer contingent upon passing the boards, which were scheduled 2 weeks after the interview. The nurse manager and assistant, who interviewed me didn't even ask about my license. HR made sure that all my paper work was in order (licence, certificates, BLS, ACLS, etc).

Hi! I'm in the face to face at Central. Just started Ortho Neuro and I've heard the online is easier from some students who started face to face and went to online.
