Can anyone tell me what a PCT is and what are the qualifications required to become one. I am currently in a nursing program where I will be entering Med-surg next semester, I wont have the option of continuing to work where I am now, while in school, so I am looking for a job that offers alot of flexibility. Someone told me PCT would be a great fit, but I am not sure.
At the hospitals where I've worked or done clinicals, a PCT is a CNA that has received extra training to be able to do some things a CNA can't do--put on EKG leads, maybe draw blood too? I'm not sure on the specifics, but there is a difference, at least in NYC.
yeah.... I've worked in multiple states. Each state differs, but a PCT is a CNA with extra training. Everything from ACLS, PALS, blood draws, performing 12-lead EKG's, and finger-stick blood glucose monitoring... just to name a few.
