I just took the NCLEX-RN this morning for the first time. I started really "prepping" for the test about a month ago..just going over some of the major material that I needed brushing up on from school and lots of practice questions. I aced all of the practice tests that I took, and wasn't too worried, however when I went today to take the test...it turned out to be so much different from the practice that I did. I am very worried it seems like after the first ten minutes I had no clue if I was answering the questions correctly or not! I have absolutely nooo clue if I passed or not! The computer shut off after about 130 questions...would that mean anything? Plus I finished in only an hour and a half... before anyone else in the room did... so I am really concerned. How did the test go for you guys? Were anyone of you in the same situation as me and passed? I am crossing my fingers!

Your experience sounds very familiar to those of us who have been reading this forum. I will tell you that the number of questions you get is not indication of whether you pass or fail the NCLEX. As I've said many times before, one can get the minimum and fail or one can get the max number of questions and pass. It doesn't matter what time frame you finish. People take tests at different rates and not everyone in the Pearson-Vue Center is taking the same test - they do tests for other professions, I believe. Not everyone is taking the NCLEX-RN or PN.
What kind of questions were you receiving? If you received a lot of priority type questions, that's a good thing. If you can, let us know what type of questions you received.
Also, one more thing, the vast majority of people don't feel like they've aced the test on leaving the center. Most people are convinced that they've failed, even start plans for studying for the next time only to discover 2 days later (if you are in a Quick Results state) that they did indeed pass.
So, hang in there, you aren't the only one who feels this way. Stay positive, and keep us posted on how you did. Best of luck to you!
As for the questions that were asked, they were mostly PRIORITIZATION, and I was concerned about that throughout because I thought maybe I just wasn't answering them right...they seemed to go on forever and ever! Other than that, only two were OB, very few medication questions, and I don't recall many questions on things like cardiovascular, respiratory, ABG analysis that I was hoping for because I am very competent in those areas! But..thanks for the reply and I will keep posted on the results... I will be on my toes for the next couple days!

I took my test on the 23rd, and got tons of priority questions. My questions stopped at 230 something (though I was going to die!!!). This is my second time around... Thankfully, it got plenty of maternity, pysch, and priority questions which I am good at. Most priority questions were who would I see first, and of course most of the time it is the person who is in the most critical condition.

I took my test on the 23rd and it stopped at 75 questions. I had a lot of priority questions, no math, and a couple of peds and OB. I absolutely did not know what questions to choose. I believed that I failed. The questions were getting harder and harder. I've never seen them before. I kept praying and reciting bible verses, especially Isaiah 41:13, "For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you." I'm telling you it was God that helped me because I found out this morning that I pass. Thank you Lord.
