RN can't find job, what gives?

Can someone close this thread? It is too late, I have no money. Lol, people seem to think you can just get to work with no money, no internet, no gas, etc. Pretty soon I won't have any water either and then I can't shower. Nice smell for the interview. Thank you.

RN can't find job, what gives?

My resume is not the problem, I made sure again, with 12 people after my last post. They don't know what the problem is either. I always ace the interview, but I don't have any money to get to one now. Moved to a place with no public transportation again, sigh. You need money to look for a job, once you run out there is no hope. A New Grad could get a job faster than I can, I swear. The flaw in my history, that I have been told about is the travel nursing. But, travel nurses on here say it isn't so. It all comes down to the recruiter, who isn't sending my resume to management, it doesn't even get that far. My question is who are these recruiters? I swear I have only worked with one who was a nurse. So if you are a manager, you wouldn't even see it. I am just out of luck and I think facilities, organizations, etc. should stop being picky if there is a shortage going on. Which, I believe there isn't. You should see me going to the church for help, when they ask what I do or did. They say, "Oh a nurse's aid", and I say, "No a RN". I will probably have to work as something else and leave the nursing field. So I can get some money to pay for something. I say the nursing industry has no love for me and it is their loss not mine, because I am a good nurse. Well, was a good nurse.

RN can't find job, what gives?

I just wanted to say one thing, because my internet is getting shut off on Monday. I hope that people who have jobs appreciate that they do, even though some days are hell, or it might not be the best place. Don't complain about it and say it sucks. Look at me who has nothing left and can't even get to an interview. I never thought I would ever be starving, on the verge of homelessness, and begging for a job, with my RN and college degree.

RN can't find job, what gives?

Thanks so much for your suggestion, but I did that a month ago with my mentor. My mentor who has been a nurse for 31 years says my resume is fine. She has been a DON, ADON, and now is in Hospice Case Management. I have great references, that no one even checks. I swear only one or two places have called my professional references to do a background. I can't go back to my school, I don't live there anymore. I left the East Coast, for the same reason. But, before I thought it was because of my LTC background and not enough Med/Surg or what they would call Acute hospital experience. Seriously, though what I learned in LTC, has made me the nurse I am today. No regrets ever. But, I would get the same letters from hospitals out East. Question is who Now I have been a nurse for 3 years and I can't find a job. And I met someone at my last assignment who has been a nurse for 20 years and can't find one either. I know I am not the only one with this problem. I probaby will have to do another travel assignment, since that is the only offers I am getting. I would like a home someday. Sigh.

RN can't find job, what gives?

This is the type of letter I received when applying for a permanent position at a hospital in Southern California. It was for 3 positions in Med/Surg. Didn't want to leave a name, because that isn't nice, but this is what I usually get. I don't get it. I would like to thank you for your interest in a current position at BLANK Medical Center. Unfortunately, after careful review of all the qualified candidates, your resume was not forwarded to the department for consideration. We select candidates whose skills, knowledge and experience provide the best qualifications for the position.

RN can't find job, what gives?

Oh and thanks for letting me know that Travel nursing will ruin my resume. Recruiters keep telling me all these things about nursing, but they aren't even nurses. So I knew I would find the answer here.

RN can't find job, what gives?

There is no hospital that I have applied to that is willing to train me out of Med/Surg. It seems they are hiring New Grads (no offense), but Med/Surg was suppose to be the basics of all nursing. Everytime I apply they say I don't have enough experience in that specialty. The Tele/ICU position I had was only 13 weeks long, and they needed nurses so bad they were taking Med/Surg.

    Las Vegas to California

Yes, you can test for Neveda, purchase a California license. Or, you can just test for the state of California and pay once. For example, when I lived in Massachusetts and was accepted for a job in Connecticut, I tested for Connecticut in Massachusetts, so I wouldn't have to pay twice. I didn't even have to go to Connecticut to test. You can get a license anywhere you want in the U.S. as long as you pass your NCLEX and pay for the application, fees, etc. Some states even offer compact priveladges, but Neveda and California are not one of them.

Job transfer with almost no notice!

If the contract says it, then it is so. But, on the other hand, they broke their part of the contract, by not giving her a job as a LVN.

Scheduled meeting with manager, HR and union rep

So are you going to lose your license over this? Oh sigh, I hope not. I can't see where you are from? When you say province do you mean Canada?

Do YOU answer call lights in a hospital?

Yes, I do actually. I will also do what some nurses call CNA work, bed bath, feeding, bathroom, etc... There still has to be delegation, but my aids can't do everything. I believe in team work.

Florida nursing shortage needs urgent attention, group says

I think your post is good. I have heard from my mentors all the time to get my BSN. I just wish I could have a permanent job to pay for school to get it. Sigh...

    Really freaking out

I don't know. My friend who just graduated, but hasn't taken her boards yet, said ALL of her classmates obtained jobs after graduation. As for my class in 2005, some of us had to wait a couple of months. For me, it is happening I can't find anything but agency or travel. sigh...

Florida nursing shortage needs urgent attention, group says

LPN's think they have a problem... Not only you. I am a Med/Surg RN and I can't find a job anywhere. I have been unemployed since July, because I am not in a specialty. I am checking out Florida. I would rather have a job than not have one like the situation I am in now.
