I will be starting a BSN program in August. Can someone tell me the classes you needed to take in order to become a PCT? Thanks in advance.

In my area (central OH), for students to be PCT/PCAs in the hospitals you need to complete a CNA course and the state test and have your first semester complete. I know my school has us taking assessment our first semester, so I'm thinking it's almost a universal (at least in my area) first semester class. If you're looking outside of the hospital setting, just the aide course might be enough.

Where I used to work, PCTs just had to be currently enrolled in a nursing program and be enrolled for at least a year. The knowledge came from that first year of nursing school. Check into the hospital you are applying to because every hospital is different.
Thank you both for your responses. I will contact the hospital I'm interested in working at.

We were eligible to test for the CNA license after successful completion of first semester. Good luck!

Where I live you just have to have finished your first clinical rotation.
