What are the chances?

I have been a sub for our county school nurses for past year, starting my second year now. For over a month have been in the same school, which I truly love! Very little official talk about why a sub is needed at this school, but of course the rumor mill is running on and on with so many tales. The students are asking when the nurse is coming back and the staff as well. Well I was told (unofficially) yesterday that she isn't coming back. Still don't know the story. No advertising for the position yet. I would love to be the new nurse here. Only thing I have been told is just keeping going there until you hear different. So what are the odds I could be there for the rest of the school year? Any thoughts from those that have been or seen similar situations?

I think it is important to not add to the rumor mill....when people ask say I have no idea "So, what up with you?"...deflect deflect deflect....I would also check in wtih the powers that be and offer this:

"I have no idea, nor do I want to know what is happening with Mrs A. I just want to put it out here that this has been a great experience for me and I would love to have first refusal if a job opens up."

You have made it clear you are not interested in noodling around for info and you are also clearly letting them, know you are interested IF the job is available.

Hopefully they won't tell you any thing you don't need to know!

Good Luck!

Ouch! My name is Mrs. A. Figures that I'd be the last to know!

I always respond to questions about the other nurse there like that because it is the truth. my standard answer to any question from anyone, student, staff, parent is " I have no idea why she isn't here. I only know I was called to fill in here". I have let the coordinator know if something opens up that I am interested. As well as talked with some from central office (HR was in the building last week) and the principal knows I am interested in the spot should it open up.
