My wife is gone to visit her sister in NC, while I stay here and toil on this assignment. She is Sooooooooo Amazing at getting out stains from my scrubs. I realize how much I miss her already!! This facility requires WHITE scrubs, and I (slob) have gotten just about everything on them you can imagine-plus (slob) I eat on the way home, and now have a wonderful half-dollar sized ketchup stain on my white pants leg!!!!
I noticed a bottle of "Shout," I sprayed, rubbed, (prayed) Lol, and even poured hot water on it. Now a wash later-looks like it just happened! What else can I do- there is a 24 hr grocer right down the block- so please help Boston out!!! Thanks Guys!
P.S. For all that think I'm uselessly dependent on my wife- we have a balance- I cook/wash dishes/take garbage out/All Dog Care-those with pets know what I mean.
She does the Laundry (and it's a task here using the Extended Stay Hotel's little Laundrymat.
Also, I'm keeping the stained ones wet- they haven't been dried. P.S. My Labcoat suffered part of the Ketchup Stain- a gift from my late grandmother (I know I shouldn't have worn it to work-just got chilly these last few nights- and you might as well "enjoy" something. But I will definetly put it up if I can get this stain out!) Not going to eat and drive anymore either- if I stain her Audi she is going to KILL ME!!!

Most white fabrics cant be bleached these days. When bleached they turn yellow. Check the tag for no bleach symbol. And then only use color safe bleach.
Soak in an oxygen bleach then wash with regular chlorine bleach. That should do the trick. This is what I use for blood stains too or any type of protein stain. The OxiClean gets the actual stain out and then chlorine bleach gets that yellow ring thats left behind. If you can find it where your at and warning this is pricey but the european laundry soaps like Persil are amazing.
I'm in love with those Tide Stain Release tabs ( They look like those dishwasher tabs) I toss one into every load.
Now I think they have ones that have the stain release, softner and detergent in one which I am going to have to look into trying.
Hairspray gets ink out wonderfully! I had a black pen explode all over my khaki scrubs. Spray it on, wash it, repeat if necessary. I also used alcohol pads, just place a rag under the stain and soak it with the alcohol. Makes it bleed through to the rag. :)
Oh I forgot this tip when trying to get a stain out don't rub. Pat. Pat from the outside with a paper towel on the other side. The idea is to push the stain through the fabric or at the very least through the visible side. If its just a surface stain then pat from the backside.
Wash only white scrubs with white scrubs. Hot water, detergent, and use one-two packs of Rit White-Wash. Your scrubs will be white and will never turn yellow. You can get it at Walmart.
I didn't read other posts, forgive if this is a duplicate. I just saw at grocery store, in the bleach section, right above the bleach, a clorox bleach pen. It was a "new" version of the old bleach pen. Maybe that would work and you wouldn't have to worry about bleaching your "Name,RN". Good Luck. I also have used just regular dawn liquid dish soap rubbed into stain. It works great for grease stains too.
Seriously, get some standard toothpaste (like Crest) and rub it well into the stain. Let sit at least for a few minutes--longer is better--then wash as usual. It works miracles on a lot of stains, even old ones.
It's also good for cleaning tarnish off of silver and jewelry--use a generous amount with an old toothbrush to scrub the tarnish away.
I have passed the toothpaste/jewelry thing on all through school for tarnishing/dirty jewelry! My mom always did that while I was growing up. It makes it look like new!
Does it matter what material the scrubs are made of? I just recently went to white tops; some are poly, some are all cotton, etc. I would love if it were as simple as adding a solution to keep them white!
