through my agency. i have spent my first year as an lvn in home heath, private duty nursing, and my last pt, i went from home, to school with pt, then back home. What do you call this kind of job? What title goes along with lvn and privat duty? I liked going to special ed school with my pt, though I pulled a ligament in my shoulder from loading and unloading my car 4x a day. Now I want to look for a job that i can do the same thing, but i dont know what title it is called and where to look? thanks everyone!

We call them private duty nurses at our agency. We have many of them who go to school w/children. I would call several agencies in your area and just tell them you are interested in doing private duty care to a child who attends school w/a nurse. We have a policy that none of our staff transports a patient in their car. A school bus picks up the kids in a special handicapped van. That would help the stress on your back and shoulder. Good luck!
Thanks! That makes alot of sense. A bus would also be a lot easier on me. Thanks again, Chelle

My agency used the term "school nurse" to describe extended care (shift care) nurses who accompanied patients to school.
