What is the best way to study A&P

Published

I am about to begin A&P and am wondering from a testing and practical standpoint, is it better to study different systems or different parts...i.e, should I focus on learning the whole skeleton, then the nervous system, then organs, then muscle tissue, etc or is it better to break it down by head, torso, limbs, etc...... Any help that would be guided more towards testing formats as well as practical (clinical) use would be appreciated.

I did it by system and that is probably how your instructor will do it...

This thread has a lot of useful tips and info on A&P.

Other than what is listed there, it all kind of depends on your learning style and what the instructor expects you to know for tests as far as how to study. Try using some of your study time to understand how and why certain systems work (independently as well as with other systems)... I find it helps to read the chapter and use the quiz at the end to determine what I might need to review further.

I agree. In both AP1 &2, we took the body system by system. My advice would be parctice, practice, then practice some more. In our class, with our instructor, that is what was required. I practically lived in the lab and when I wasn't able to be in the lab I was practicing at home. Don't let this diacourage you though. I don't have much of a memory so I have to work harder than most to get it down. Good luck! The things you learn will help you when get into program.
