Hi everyone,
What are the best hospitals for ICU as a new graduate in Texas? I am hoping to hear from personal experiences. I really want a hospital that takes pride in training. Thank you for all the help.

I have no idea about hospitals in Texas, although I lived there twice as a military spouse. My only advice is don't let anyone on this board discourage you from pursuing your goals. I was hired as a new grad to work SICU, took care of fresh open hearts, and thrived.
@beachbabe86 Thank you! I really appreciate the motivation.

Check the discussions in AN's Texas forum for state specific information.
U.S.A. Nursing has list of each state for information pertaining to local state area.

I worked at Baylor Scott and White and would not recommend for new grads.

Can you please explain why?

The poster may have had a bad experience there and not want to discuss it.
On the other hand, I went into a stable situation with nurses who were kind and supportive and MDs who were eager to teach and support. They wanted the best care for their patients and taught us at the bedside.
Best of luck in your search for a new job.

Which geographical area are you looking at? In the Houston area, Houston Methodist and Memorial Hermann systems seem to put out decent new grads. I'm partial to Houston Methodist since I've been working there since I moved into the area. The new grad residency seems comprehensive. It lasts for a year, is very supportive, and I believe the ICU orientation is about 6 months. The Methodist hospital I'm at also provided access to AACN's online critical care orientation program for 6 months when I transitioned from IMU, so I'm sure they provide the same access to new grads.
