I plan to move to NJ from NY. I plan to move to the central New Jersey. I have no ideas about NJ hospitals to work for.
Everyone has their own opinion of the best nursing opportunities in the state, but I believe that none can compare with Saint Barnabas Health Care SystemSaint Barnabas is New Jersey's largest integrated health care delivery system with over 70 healthcare facilities throughout the state.
Among them are:
21,000 employees
443 medical residents and interns
9 nursing and rehab centers
1 psychiatric facility (100 bed acute)
4,600 physicians
8 acute care hospitals
3 assisted living facilities
the nationally recognized specialty services include:
New Jersey's only certified burn treatment facility
Newy Jersey's only center for heart and lung transplant
Two of New Jersey's three kidney transplant centers
Renowned Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery
Children's Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center

After your probationary period is ended (90) days if you want to work at another Saint Barnabas facility you can under the "concurrent" status.
There is also a sign on bonus at some facilities for RN's.

Are you a recruiter??
RWJ is a busy trauma center, you'll work your a$$ off. Union environment, good pay but hiring freezes happen and it may take a while to get in.
Magnet hospitals: Raritan Bay, has 2 locations, just increased Cath Lab and cardiology departments.
St Peter's - in New Brunswick, has a children's hospital, community facility. Lots of shake-ups in management - the CNO left not long ago.
NoBut I know a better job opportunity when I see it and I want to share that info with others. I wish that I had this info when I finished nursing school three years ago.
You failed to mention that St Barnabas System has closed three hospitals in the past few years, with Union Hospital on the chopping block effective 9/30/07.
I know places with comprable benefits, and some with much better tuition reimbursement and PTO (days off). The sick time bonus encourages people to come to work ill, and in hosptials if you're sick stay home!
Sorry...getting off topic!!
Jersey Shore Med Ctr in Neptune. Mgmt is more foreward thinking than other places I have worked. UNION!. Salary depends on experience. Certification pay. fyi, I live 5 min from Centrastate and also would not work there or allow anyone I know to go there. I will not go into specifics, but take the hint from several posters.
