What ages do I need to know for Erickson stages for the NCLEX?

Published

I am having trouble with what to learn for the Erickson ages for the NCLEX? Every reference I see has a different age.

0-1.5 Trust vs Mistrust

1.5-3 Autonomy vs Shame and Doubt

3-6 Initiative vs Guilt

6-12 Industry vs Inferiority

12-18 Idenity vs Role Confusion

18-25 Intimacy vs Isolation

25-50 Generativity vs Stagnation

50-? Integrity vs Despair

The variances are the ones bolded. Any suggestions with references would be great.

I had zero questions pertaining to erikson or Piaget or any other stage of development. I wouldn't stress about something so minute- concentrate on bigger concepts- EKGs, dialysis, infection control, etc. this was my experience for nclex RN. But I also had minimum number of questions so maybe with more questions there are more topics.

Thanks. How did you study?

I had a question regarding this! just know the ages like you have them listed. very basic

Thanks. Think I am off track. Is the test in general overall? I have been reviewing for some time in detail.

I felt like there was some basic questions bc I could tell when I was getting a hard question wrong. But the harder questions can be a little more specific. Everyones exam is so different, so its hard to say. I honestly would only focus on stuff your weak on. Good luck!! When do you take it?

I do not have a date, but I am just doing a last review and then I should go in. As I am just reviewing with Feuer.

I used the NCLEX-4000 cd, which is ok for basic review but I wouldn't rely on it (found a lot of mistakes in rationales), Kaplan, Exam Cram, Mosby's/Saunders for content...Kaplan was by far the most helpful and that's all I used for the week leading up to the test so I could narrow in my focus. I think that was the most beneficial. Don't be afraid to spend money for a GOOD, RECOMMENDED review program- it may seem like a lot now (especially after the cost of nursing school), but you'll be thankful when you pass on your first try. Good luck!
