I met my husband of 16 years while I was in nursing school with his mother. I was 21 and she was 41. Older nurses have great life experience to share with their patients and fellow students. Also life experience makes you more confident in your peop;e skills. I just went back to RN-BSN school. Most of the folks in the class are at least 35 years old. I started a dream to be a school nurse at 39 years old. School is exciting a challenge at 40. Remember, most of us will have to work at least until we are sixty something. I think you have plenty of time.

Hospital trained enrolled nurse commenced 1989 - age 22. Completed Bachelor Nursing (RN) at uni and commenced this year, so I think that makes me *oops* close to 40 *shhh*

Sorry, what's an enrolled nurse? Is that the equivalent of an LPN here in the States, do you know?

The definition of an enrolled nurse differs around Oz. It is now a certificate IV level at uni, though I did my training in a hospital. ENs care for patients "under the indirect supervision of an RN". thus care for own patients, liaise with allied health workers and medical teams, etc etc. Some are medication endorsed, depending on the state and the policy of the hospital.

i was responsbile teen in high school even won a scholarship for nursing school but when i got away from home decided to have fun instead of study and blew it big time getting kicked out and having to repay scholarship.then i decided i really did want to be a nurse.worked 2 years then entered a good LPN scool and graduated at 20 as valevictorian.that is not the end though i married had 2 boys and when they were in school they supported my dream to go to RN school. It took 4 years part time but i did it and graduated at age of 38.it wasn't easy with a family but we all worked together to make it happen!in some ways i had it harder and in some ways easier than the classmates just out of school.i already could organize and could get down to studying faster than they did plus i had already experienced some lfe.I guess what i am saying is that what age you graduate is not as important as that you did and what you did with it once you did.i must say that a loving supporting family is the only wasy i could do it.we need nurses i say go for it at ANY AGE!!
