Yeah...I dont think its really as bad as it sounds. They are just new. They will be my 2nd choice. First is TCU and if I dont get in this May then I will take the TEAS V and try for WGU's next class. The only thing I was missing was my A&P2 which I am taking this spring and the TEAS... so we shall see I guess!
One important thing that I think isn't understood about WGU is that you have to apply with all the above completed and enter into a pre-nursing program. After 6 months of paying to go to school at WGU, you then apply to the clinical nursing program where only a very small number are accepted.
I eventually decided not to take a risk with WGU since I didn't want to pay them for 6 months of pre-nursing classes that would not transfer and then have a small chance of getting into the actual clinical nursing program.
I wonder if that's because it's 2.5 yrs with no breaks... That sounds horrible lol
One advantage of WGU is that you finish with a BSN, it's not much different than a lot of ADN programs, a lot of them have off time projects that need to be done.
Plus you don't have class everyday with WGU , 3/4 study, then test , then clinical time, I think its like 14 12hr shifts per six months. A extra six months for a BSN sounds good.
It's a new program and that's the problem.
I'm not applying anywhere for the time being because I'm 3 months pregnant. So I have to find a better/trustworthy online bridge program or wait until the baby is old enough.
Okay. Understandable. I am going to hold out for WGU. I want to be able to work some as well as have the lectures online...I have/am applying to TCU as well...but can't work while in it and it's 70k so... It's probably going to be put on the back burner.

Okay so I haven't heard much or have I been able to find much information on how this program works. I just got off the phone with an Advisor and here is the run down for this upcoming cohort.
They have new cohorts every 6-9 months depending on clinical sites. Right now they use only one clinical site in Rowlette. They are working on another one. They accept 10-12 students per cohort. That will increase as clinical sites increase.
The length is 2.5 years with NO breaks at $4500 roughly/term. Each term is 6 months and there are 5 terms. So about $22,500 total
1st term is Intro to nursing and is all online
2nd-5th terms are online/Lab/Clinic
Labs are held at Community Colleges in Dallas
Clinic is in Rowlette mostly 5-7 12 hr shifts in a 2 week period and this happens every 3 months
Right now you have to have everything in by March for the May 1st start date.
Required:
Teas V can take 2x in a 12 month period
Micro
A&P 1,2
CPR
Resume- professional and detailed
Statement 1-2 pages
2 recommendations from a template they give you
They require a pharmacology but can be taken with them and not a pre-req.
They also require a Biochemistry which you can transfer in but it has to say BIOCHEMISTRY on your transcript or you can take with them. Not a pre-req
(there are other required social science and most of the other pre-reqs are accompanied by a BA/BS degree. They also accept a AS/AA degree as well.
Now here is the catcher! ALL OF THE SCIENCES (A&P1,2 and Micro) must be done ...nothing in progress by march. So basically if you are taking anything this spring you might as well wait till next cohort because its not happening for you haha
Hope that helps some...
