WGU RN to BSN in 6 months

Updated:   Published

I have 31 credits to go. The only courses I have is statistics and the rest are the nursing courses. What is the best sequence of the nursing courses to take in order to finish in 6 months for the RN to BSN?

Once a student completes the first 12 credits, the program mentor 'accelerates' a course by adding one that had been scheduled for the second term onto your current (1st) term.

Typically, four courses (or 12 credits worth of coursework) will be open at once when you begin your initial semester because 12 credits constitutes a full course load. However, if you end up with a conservative program mentor, he/she will want you to focus on one particular course (usually it's DPV1- Care of the Older Adult) and see how you do with it.

Once you finish the first 12 credits, the program mentor will start 'accelerating' courses (a.k.a. adding courses that were intended to be completed during the second term onto your first term). Most mentors accelerate one course at a time.

Thank You!

Do you have to take a math class or algebra for this degree? I took a medication calculation mathematics class for my ADN nine years ago. [emoji24]

A statistics course is required, but WGU's statistics course was easy since it contained no math or calculations. It consisted strictly of concepts and definitions.

Can you tell me of a website or course overview for WGU I can be studying while waiting to get accepted? I want to familiarize myself with it totally beforehand and make it the first class I take. Thanks Thecommuter!

For statistics? A lot of people recommend Khan Academy. There isn't a whole lot of pre-studying you can do for the other classes, though.

I think the statistics class has changed because I have math on mine. I was truly planning on being a one term student, however, I think that mentors have caught on and I have been "delayed" getting into my next class or something is being held up. I only had 12 classes to take and it's taking me 4 months to the date to get this far and I only have 4 classes done.

Damn maybe I should reconsider?

I started WGU RN to BSN program on Sept 1, 2017. I finished 37 credits and finished the program on Jan 26, 2017. It took my 4 months and 26 days. It can be done.

The classes are constantly being updated so please be aware of that when looking for info. Certain classes are even different from when I took them 4 months ago. Good luck to anyone currently enrolled and going to enroll.
