WGU RN-BSN 2020 GRADUATE!

Nursing Students Western Governors

Updated:   Published

Just wanted to update my nurse family and say that I'm done with the RN-BSN program! It was a long and arduous journey..... but it's over now. It took me 1 year and 3 months to complete the program because I worked full time (Monday-Friday) on 2 toxic jobs, and I had to sacrifice my weekends to make it happen. ? However, the school's course mentors and course instructors were very helpful, and I appreciated their contributions. I wish much success to everyone else's journey. ?‍?

remains a competency-based university. That has not and will not change. 'Pass' is considered a 'B' equivalent- and there are literally hundreds of schools accepting WGU degrees for further study. I was accepted into three well-known accredited doctoral programs with my WGU MSN.

Over 200k grads and 120k current students.

Congratulations!! Can I share what the out of pocket cost was for you?  The ambiguity about pay as you go is a little unsettling.  Thank you!!

I'm not sure what you mean by ambiguity and pay as you go.

has 'flat rate' tuition, in other words you pay $x-amount for a six month term. If you complete the courses in that term early and want to accelerate your progress through the program by bringing future courses into that term- you pay no additional tuition.

Example: I was assigned 4 courses (12 credits) in my first term of RN-to-BSN. I finished those four courses in the first three months of my six month term. So I completed four MORE courses in the remaining three months (23 credits total) but paid ZERO additional tuition for those accelerated courses.

I hope this answers your question.

You pay by term. The term is every 6 months. Whatever classes u can complete in 6 months is what determines your total cost. The terms were around $3,000 or less when I went thru the program. Hope this helps.

Yes, thank you!

I really like the program. The pace is good because you can do as much or as little in a week. I was able to do 17 units in my 1st term. My mentor is amazing and is available to answer questions. There have been weeks where I am so busy at work with COVID-19 patients that I only am able to dedicate 1 day to course material and other weeks where I get through a lot. So it is flexible with your schedule. I Don't know how the prelicensure program is and it study habits will be different but overall I have really enjoyed the program so far. Next steps for me is wait a bit and see if the NP Program will come to California, if not within the next 2 years, I will start my MSN in Nursing Education. I Really love my job and area of nursing so I may try to get a job teaching new RN classes with my current employer or as a professor teaching clinicals. So many avenues out there!

Hello, I hope you're well. How much did you end up paying for the program? Thank you in advance
