Hello! I am a graduate of WGU's Business - IT Management program, and I'm interested in pursuing my BSN Prelicensure through WGU as well. I require A&P1/2 w/lab, microbiology, and Lifespan/Human Development classes in order to get going. I have started A&P1 on straighterline already, and it looks like that's going pretty smoothly, less of course the $250 I had to fork over for the lab kit! I've also registered for Lifespan/Human Development at the local community college for the fall semester. I will be applying to SoCal and Utah as they are the closest locations to my home in Nevada, as well as Texas because I have a friend there.
My interest in Nursing stems from being a deputy sheriff as well as working in casino security and being a first responder to medical situations. I already possess my ARC BLS cert and I've put it to good use many times.
If anyone has any advice on rocking SL classes, getting through Lifespan/Human Development class, and getting admitted to the prelicensure program, I'd love to hear it!

Not positive- but I think you must first establish legal residence in a pre-licensure state AND you MUST have previous healthcare experience. You do not seem to have this.
My enrollment counselor is well aware of my location and employment history, and has happily furnished straighterline discount codes as well as information regarding every location's start date in every state for the next year. EC even said "I don't do this too often, a lot of people are just too tied down to their locations to apply for other states." If i were to be unqualified for the program, or if I were to require a state's residency, I would have certainly heard about it by now. I have performed countless first-responder duties and saved several lives, so I certainly can and will eloquate that into healthcare experience on my student statement.
so I say again, if anyone has any advice on rocking SL classes, getting through Lifespan/Human Development class, and getting admitted to the prelicensure program, I'd love to hear it!

WGU asks that you reside no more than 50 miles from the area where you will be attending your cohort clinicals. If you live outside of that you are highly probable going to be disqualified and you wont get into the program.
Dont know what EC you are speaking too but mine made it clear that the school wants you to live no more than 50 miles from the site clinical sites.
You will find out you are disqualified due to distance when your packet goes forth.
I was thinking of moving to Sacramento but it would be more than 50 miles away so it would render me disqualified. I would serious think about relocating to the location you plan to attend and not get disappointed by thinking you can enroll when your not even close.
which ever state you wish to attend their pre-licensing program, you have to be no more than 50 miles in commute time from the site you are going to be a part of in your cohort.
The enrollment counselor doesnt decide on your qualifying, the committee does and I was made very aware that if I move to Sacramento, I would not get into the program due to the distance.
I am staying in So Cal until I graduate.
I'm aware of the distance rule. Enrollment counselor said I can apply to all and then move to the one that accepts me.
