Already working in healthcare also helps! The point is, its not just grades they look at but the whole picture. So if your TEAS score is not as high as some you can still be competitive.

I was also excepted as an alternate, I hope we get to continue with everyone else and not have to wait until October 2013 to start clinical, if I have I will ask about maybe doing clinicals in Texas City if they have a clinical starting earlier, but I think Dallas would be extremely far for.

everyone keep your head up. it is hard to get into nursing school i have been trying for a couple of years I just want everyone to not lose hope it will happen in its due time. good luck everyone.

I am in the WGU nursing program in California. I am over half-way done and I can say its a good program. Luckily I got in the 2-year program before they extended it another 6 months. From what I've heard, they extended it to allow students more time to complete some prereqs during that time. If you guys have any questions, let me know.

Im starting WGU Texas -Houston cohort soon, and I wanted to know do you recommend us to start studying anything before the class starts, and were you able to work during the program and if so around how many hours are you able to get in? Thanks so much for your post its nice to know we have someone thats already in a WGU pre licensure program willing to answer questions.

I know a lot of people do work and go to the program so I think it's possible. I do not work, but I also have 7 kids so there is more to adding work into the schedule for me. I really love this program. I have been in a nursing program before so I can compare it to traditional school. It is to me equally as hard, but so much easier for me to juggle my time around. My whole life hasn't come to a screeching halt because of school. I don't really think there is anything to start studying because I'm not sure how much it would help. There is a lot of paper writing so you should be prepared for that.

I have a classmate that works full time and two that work part time and they are able to keep on top of things. They just have to be more dedicated.As far as studying beforehand, I don't think it will help. Just show up on day one and be prepared to write a lot of essays.

I am applying today to the program. Does anyone know when the next cohort starts? From this board it looks like april. I have a bachelors in PR/ Advertising and I made an 87 on the TEAS (but I have a low overall GPA). Anyone that starts this week, please let me know how it is. Congrats and thanks!
