Hello,
My name is Bethanie. I'm fairly new to this site. I was just interested in seeing if anyone has applied to the Oct 2019 cohort in Houston, TX for WGU. Pretty much all of my pre-reqs have been completed and I know the deadline to submit everything is August 1st.

I intend on applying to the December Cohort. What are the average stats i’m getting in? I haven’t been able to get into any of the Houston schools so WGU is my last resort.
The requirements for WGU are:
Talk to an Enrollment Counselor
Apply to WGU (application fee is $65 but I believe they offer a coupon to waive the fee)
2.75 GPA overall and a 2.75 GPA sciences (A&P I and II with labs, and Micro with lab) - Submit a transcript for an evaluation
TEAS score of 60% overall and a 60% on the reading section
Letter of Recommendation from supervisor or someone who’s seen you in a professional setting
Letter of Intent (student statement about your journey towards nursing; has to be 1-2 pages long)
Submit a professional resume
Once you have all that in, speak with an enrollment counselor again just to follow up and ask any questions you may have.
The deadlines are 60 days before the start date. So for you, you have to have everything submit and be qualified for consideration by October 1st to be considered for December 1st.
Now as far as average stats, it really depends on where you are. The prelicensure program in CA is extremely competitive (they have a current application freeze because so many students are applying but they don’t have many locations to do clinicals). TX offers many locations and have start dates every couple months or so (Houston has a December 1st and January 1st start date). I don’t really know about Utah, Indiana, and Florida...but I’ve seen a rainbow of GPAs and TEAS scores for TX. I was told that an 80 or better for the TEAS overall and reading section but I also know a lot of people that are currently in the program that did not make those high scores. It just depends. Every case is different I guess.

I saw that my status had changed to admitted so I called my EC. He told me that they started selecting early for December 1st for Methodist and I was one of the few selected for December 1st so we’re not in a cohort together, but I’m so happy because Methodist is a magnet hospital and they’ll hire you if you do clinicals there. I’m so happy ?? congrats on your admittance ??

Yeah just type in WGU Prelicensure on Facebook under “groups” and it’s the one that has 2018 in the name and over 1000 group members.
I encourage all Prelicensure applicants and students to look that group up and ask their questions and communicate there because a lot of the people in the WGU tag on allnurses are primarily doing the RN-BSN or RN-MSN programs.
