Hi Shondaj - Which two classes are you currently working on? I start Microbiology on Monday. I'm hoping to get accepted into the Oct 2015 cohort too. Good luck to you!
I am taking Human Physiology and Human Life Span and Development. I am taking them at El Camino College starting in 2 weeks

HI SoonerBredExpat I wanted to know what was the 5 week course you took to get a certification and where? I have no clinical certification and I feel that will mess up my chances.
Where did you complete your 5 week CNA & was it expensive? Thanks for the help!
There is a 5 week CNA in LA Culver City areaI believe it is. It's called Ya Ya Medical Training Institute. They are $900 for the course and you go to class during the day on Mondays and Tuesday's and some Wednesday's. They also have a weekend program that's alittle longer.
Their number is 310-404-6827
They are on Slauson between La Brea and Overland.
I was going to attend but decided to get my EMT Cert back instead and I am doing an online EMT program instead.

Hi FutureNP2017! I took the course at Mission Career College here in Riverside. There are similar programs around the LA metro area. Take a look at the list of approved schools on the rn.ca.gov website (I can't find the link right now, sorry) and call around to get prices and times, etc. I had to take 5 weeks off work to get it done, but they had weekend classes that took about 4 or 5 months. It was $1,850 I think. Worth every penny and time off for me! There are many less expensive options but I was impatient and wanted to get it done. It was an outstanding program, in my opinion. I highly recommend getting this certification if you are looking at WGU's prelicensure program. Let me know if you have any more questions. Good luck!
Good feedback! Thank You!
That's expensive for a 5 week CNA course. The one I was taking is only $900 and they are a nice private small school. The staff is very nice and they have a weekend program as well.
They have one coming up in Feb. they call me all the time.

50 hours of lecture on Mondays and first Tuesday of the program from 8.00am-5pm
Then
104 hours of clinical hours on Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7:00am-3.30pm

Shonda,
Hi! I'm Dee from Florida. I am currently a teacher switching careers. I plan on getting into WGUs October 2015 Cohort in Daytona Beach. I'm taking my prerequisites at Straighterline AP1 and AP2 and Microbiology. I read some of your posts, are you still going to a community college or back to Straighterline?
Actually I chose to return to National University to finish the last two classes. I attempted the community college but the classes are too long and the instructors were horrible.
I went back to NU because I had taken my other science classes there. I just had to make sure I did not have one instructor who was not good but she is no longer at the campus. I did not take straighterline. I needed to be in class for my science classes.

Hello all :) I want to apply to this WGU cohort as well, or rather I should say "re-apply." Back in 2012, I sent in my application, but then I received an email back stating my application will not be looked at because I do not live within the 50 miles radius. Is this still a requirement? I live near Sacramento, CA. I am waiting to hear back from WGU admissions. Nice to find others who are interested in the same program!
