WGU Nursing 2018

Hello you guys I'm looking into applying into WGU Dallas May cohort of 2018. I'm curious on the acceptance rate along with clinical placement. Is there anyone who is currently in the program or looking to apply? If so what are your thoughts?

Thank you for your response. My advisor has provided me with ample information pertaining to the pre-licensure program. However I'm interested in hearing from ones in the Dallas area that's applying for the May 2018 cohort. I've tried searching prior to this post but I only came across post from 2017 and older. I will most definitely try searching again.

Kind regards

Hi I'm in the dallas area I start the program feb 1st! The acceptance is not as competitive as you think. It was quick for me to get into a cohort and then clinicals is a separate application 4 months into your first 6 month term... don't let this scare you I've pretty much been told that If you do the work ect you will be fine! Any questions ask away

I am in Dallas and I am going through the motions of applying currently. :) I am concerned about the separate clinical application process! I do not like the idea of paying for courses that will only apply to this particular program... Especially when there isn't a guarantee that you'll get accepted the second time. I've also heard that their Biochemistry class is ridiculously difficult with little to no support.

Hoping the previous poster is correct that as long as you do the work, you'll be fine! This and TWU's nights and weekends program are my only options to become a RN for now.

I live in Ft Worth and hoping to apply soon after taking the TEAS V, I'm curious if anyone has any advice for making a final decision? anyone in the Dallas area in the program?

@maaranda13 Thank you so much for responding. Congratulations on your acceptance. I hope today was awesome. Applying a second time is a nerve wrecking but it also pushes me that much more to do my best the first six months and throughout. I'll be taking Teas V Exam Saturday. Once I get those results is what will determine if I'll be able to apply for the May start date.

@asurs91 Do plan on applying for the May cohort? Also have you taken the Teas V exam if so what were your scores and the overall exam? I also agree with you WGU and TWU are my only options considering I need to work full time. I am aware of making the sacrifice for the last 6 months of the program.

@Cthorns I've decided to stick with WGU and submitt all of my paperwork after I take the Teas V exam. I really admire the fact the program is online and is designed around working adults while being affordable. I think you should apply and give it a shot.

@CST-LM

thank you for your response I scheduled my TEAS exam 2/28/18, I have done more research and I believe WGU will be my final choice, cost and flexibility seem to be attainable with their program, Good luck to you

Thanks and same to you! I will keep you guys updated on my results after I take the Teas exam. I'm extremely nervous but I'm trying to get it under control by Saturday. Good luck!

@CST-LM, I am not sure which cohort I am applying for. I am nervous to commit to WGU when there is a chance I could get accepted to TWU! Hopefully it doesn't look bad to the advisers if I hold off for a bit.

I made a 83.3% on the overall exam.

I didn't do well on the English portion because I didn't even think to study that!!

Reading: 85.1

Math: 87.5

Science: 83

English: 70.8

Do you think these numbers are competitive enough?

Any fellow hopeful 2018 November Florida BSN Prelicensure applicants?
