Does California recognize a WGU BSN? I've read some articles that say WGU is a bad idea in California. I am looking at RN-BSN programs and had applied to WGU's RN-BSN but now I'm double guessing it. Any info greatly appreciated!

WGU has a prelicensure program in California that is VERY popular, well-respected and has an excellent NCLEX pass rate. There are literally thousands of WGU grads in California, and hundreds of current students. I would be interested to see the 'articles' you reference.
GREAT to know! Thanks for the info!!!!

I know someone who works in an ICU in a very well respected hospital in California. She obtained her ADN from a community college but obtained her RN to BSN through WGU and has had no issues. There is also a new grad who works on her floor that is a graduate of California's pre licensure BSN program through WGU and also has had no issues with it. The only potential issues I could see from WGU would be if you're looking to get into a competitive NP or CRNA program as WGU is pass/fail and you can only obtain a max equivalency of a 3.0 GPA. I'm waiting to start the prelicensure program in CA and it's very competitive to be admitted.
Thanks so much!

Hello,
I live in California and graduated from WGU's RN to BSN program in July 2016. I was able to obtain my PHN certificate from the state with no trouble at all. Three months after graduation I was hired as a public health nurse! I love it.
dont listen to what others say. WGU is legitimate and accredited. 😊 Good luck to you!
