Western Kentucky University (WKU) - Starting ONLINE Lpn-RN Program

Updated:   Published

I start this July with my LPN-RN transition course-work. Are any of my fellow classmates out there?

Also does anyone have any experience (good OR bad) with this program? Interested in hearing some feedback. I searched the old posts and only found one from a couple years ago with no bites on it!

Hoping to connect with someone who is currently doing this program, HAS done this program- or is going to be starting this program! Thank you all in advance!

Excited about getting my RN!

Hi guys, I'm looking to apply, I was wondering what were you guys's HESI scores or GPA?

My GPA was around a 3.0 and I scored a 93 on my HESI.

How long exactly is the program?
If you test out of all classes and pass everything as planned?
I know it says 12 months but I know some schools say that then you end up graduating in 9 or 10 months!
let me know

12 months is accurate. A 5 week transition class first then 3 semesters.

Has anyone heard about Western Kentucky University? Is there anyone from California who has completed the LPN to RN bridge program there? How is the program? Are they accredited? Is it worth it for California students? Please share your thoughts.

Im not from California but did complete program

Program was smooth/semi hard classwork was online but Clinicals were in person It could work out for you if they will approve a clinical site close to you. They are accredited

It is mostly online. You have to go to campus in Bowling Green at least once to clep out of skills lab(there's only like 12 available spots, it's first come first serve based off when they email you a sign up sheet), if you do not clep skills you have to go to campus three times for lab(every other week, 3 times total on a Wednesday or Friday for 4 hours) and you have clinical second semester every Monday or Tuesday (around Nashville TN and surrounding counties and Bowling Green)depending on when/where you pick. They offer you like 5 different hospitals to chose from first come first serve. (10 clinical days total) and the last semester you have to complete 120 hours with a nurse they pair you with at one of the hospitals around TN or KY they have a contract with and it has to be done in 6 weeks. I would not think it's very ideal for someone in Cali, being so far from campus/clinical sites. They are accredited though. Program is do able and most people work full time up until last semester. They give you the option to clep out of skills, maternity, and mental health which is helpful. You could graduate from the program with only taking 5 classes.
Hope this helps!

Hey, if you don't mind me asking, what was your HESI score? I'm worried I won't get in because of my HESI score?

Which quiz lets did you use? And how long did you study?

I studied about two weeks. I searched things like HESI A2 reading ect on quizlet.
one was HESI reading and comprehension by stopittt and HESI anatomy & physiology (nurse hub) by BDB_1994

Don't forget to watch the YouTube videos from nurse shai and all of Jenny. They are spot on!
