Flying through courses

Hi, I'm in CA doing my RN to BSN program and am flying through the courses. I have to admit that some are more difficult than others but today I took a course and already passed the preassessment and anticipate passing the objective assessment. So it will take me 2 days to get through a course. I think to myself "am I being punked". How do they justify the hours?! I mean I'm grateful but do others feel like the wool is being pulled over their eyes?! I mean I know the school is legit but is it this easy for everyone?

When I went through I had some classes that were quicker than others. Everyone is at their own pace. Just check off the boxes as you close in to your BSN. Don't worry how fast or slow you get there.

If you got a strong foundation during your initial RN program and are an independent adult learner then why are you surprised that you're checking off the requirements for the BSN as easily as you currently are? 's courses for RN's to advance their nursing degrees are built in such a way that the knowledge learned is being stacked on experience and previous education.

I don't know about you but my ASN program had very high expectations and gave me a solid foundation to start as a beginner nurse. My ASN college could petition (if this is the correct way to say it) to become a BSN program apparently because all of their nursing core matches the requirements needed but more of the BSN gen eds would need to be added.

I wish I had known about WGU when I did my RN to BSN program that took almost two years with structured classes and added another $20,000 to my student loans. I won't say that I didn't learn anything during my BSN program but having gone through my ASN program first made the BSN experience almost frustrating (it did have a lot of education that tried to pound in how much better having BSN is/would be...what's the word for that...oh yeah...indoctrinated!)

I did have a very strong foundation in my initial RN program but you're right it's to add on. I'm grateful to have waited a few years before going back because my clinical experience has enabled me to do well so far in the program. Happy to be in the program and pay less since I paid so much initially for nursing program.

Hello how are you doing with your classes so far? Are you almost finished with your BSN? I'm interested in enrolled the beginning of next year when I complete my RN.

WGU is competency-based. If you can demonstrate competency- you get credit for it. They do not measure seat time- which is a poor indicator of learning anyway.

Good to hear you're having a good experience! I am currently awating the outcome of my transcript evaluation, with anticipated start date of January 2018. I'm hoping this will go quickly for me, too!
