Hello! Starting a thread for those applying this year to Western Carolina University DNP Nurse Anesthesia program, class of 2023.

I'll be submitting my application soon. I hope I spark some attention during their early application review on May 31st. Official deadline is September 15th.

Specializes in Medical ICU.

Anyone heard anything yet?

Yeah I found out yesterday I didn't get in.

I got a phone call and then my official notification from the school that I got in about a week ago.

Dang, I'm sorry Just_a_RN

Awesome MKsrna! I was offered a position as well and accepted.

Has anyone else who was offered a spot accepted?

Congrats Lawman! I actually committed to a different program but WCU's program also seemed great!

Specializes in Labor and delivery, ICU.

I'm second on the alternate list so I'm keeping all of my fingers and toes crossed!?

Specializes in Open Heart ICU.

Hey, would you all mind sharing you stats, maybe even including experience, certs and leadership/unit involvement?

I've worked on developing my resume to compensate for a lower GPA, however, I know WCU doesn't even look at resume stuff, until after you get an invite to interview as they use an algorithm that produces a score and invite the top scores. I have 3+ years experience and 3 certifications, including loads of leadership/unit involvement, but I missed the mark. I'm retaking some sciences in hopes of boosting my GPA and scoring an interview for next year. Just wanted to hear some stats of successful applicants to see where I'm at.

Thanks and congrats you guys!!

Specializes in CV-Surgical ICU.

My stats may be irrelevant since I got interviewed and didn't get in but:

2 years CVICU experience in a level 1 trauma center.

3.6 GPA

307 GRE

CCRN

Unit Committee and preceptor experience.

I'm also am alternate, so not sure how much my stats will help, but I have:

2 years Burn ICU, 2.5 years in a high volume CVICU, both at larger level 1 trauma centers.

3.24 GPA, 320 GRE, no charge experience, but had a few assorted leadership and unit activities as well as my CCRN.

Best of luck!

Thanks you all, that's both helpful and upsetting as I'm really not too far off at all. Hopefully increasing my science GPA will give me the final push.

Thanks so much and fingers crossed for the alternates!
